Thanks a ton, LIA. This has started me on a Bonnie Dobson/Morning Dew musical exploration. Must find other versions now. I have Jeff Beck's version and have heard Devo's version, bloody aweful that one. Your efforts are much appreciated.

This was played a lot over here in the mid-sixties. Episode 6 include Roger Glover later of Deep Purple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSGYEwgeCFs

Thanks Snori, thats a sweet version. Very sixties sounding. The Nazereth version is hardcore. Captures the apocolyptic idea of the song well. I would like to hear Bonnie's version, must do some pokin around for that one.

suspect Bonnie's version is very chinka-chinka (that's code for singer/songwriter)

the Dead's arrangement is the only one i've heard where that recurring guitar theme along with the bass plectrum rhythm riff is conspicuous in it's absence

Oh yes, Im sure her version is quite chinka chinka.
Probly only to be found on vinyl.
That is a good interview. Always good to get the songwriters perspective and motivation.
The Robert Plant version I liked, instramentaly anyway. Hard for me to listen to Plant's vocals these days.
The GD's version is by far my favorite. Of course, Im biased, but it just so magestic.

Those are some sweet sounding chops there. Its in a live setting when he attempts vocal adventurism that I have a problem with. I stress "I" there. What do I know, it is RP after all.

Bonnie Dobson's Dew (yes it is a bit chinka chinka, and twee to boot) can be found on this album, which I recommend for your Dead studies and listening pleasure:

A little more research overnight turned up this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov25z8vV1dg&;feature=related
and it would seem Ian Gillan was also in the group. Don't you just love Youtube ?

The Allman Brothers did a Morning Dew back when they were the Allman Joys, I think it's on their box set.

Thanks, I'll HAVE to check into that one. The Allman Joys? Good they changed THAT name, hard one to take seriously.

BTW, I still dont see any additions to the Informative Links section. Maybe I should post in support of your suggestions.

Actually, looking it up, technically it was the 31st of February with the Allman bro's....

I don't think anything will be added to the Informative Links section - apparently Noah's blog was listed because he has friends among the Archive admins...
